I was going to try and add direct links here to my Substack writing but have failed at that so far. You can find everything by clicking on the orange Substack icon at the bottom of this page. I started making links here to the first few articles, with images, but though the images work on a laptop they don't work on a phone, so I've removed them.
I've been writing blogs about making art for many years, but in October 2024 I started writing longer pieces which went back to the beginning of my art experiences and influences. There are 38 articles so far, focussed on what I call my 'intractable questions' about art-making. The first 33 were explorations of my experiences of trying to connect to making my own work, with links out to discussions of things that called me and which I studied, such as Chinese and Indian art, and latterly, Complexity theory. I took the story up to around 2023 and ended it there for now. I'm still currently publishing weekly, but these are now responses to ideas, other articles, visits to galleries etc. Whatever strikes me as needing to be written about!
